About Šolta

Climate and Location

Where is Šolta?

Island Šolta is an island of the central Dalmatian archipelago, in close proximity to Split and Trogir, and has around 1,600 inhabitants. It is 21 km long and 5 km wide.

The nearest airport is Split Airport, 43 km from the property.

The island can be easily reached from Split in just 50 minutes by ferry or 30 minutes by catamaran during the high and low season.

Šolta is a small and quiet island that offers a peaceful vacation.

Nature is intact and wild, which is why you will find the most beautiful beaches and bays with turquoise blue sea here.

The south side of the island, facing the sea, is characterized by a whole series of “wild” coves where almost no traces of civilization can be found, thanks to the inaccessible terrain that makes a visit from the sea side a daring undertaking.

Climate on the Šolta Island

Šolta is known for its mild Mediterranean climate with dry and warm summers and mild and rainy winters. In May to June and September to October, the air temperatures are at a pleasant 20 to 25 °C. The water is pleasant during these months.

The average air temperature in the summer months (from June to September) is between 26 and 34 degrees Celsius during the day and between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius at night. The sea temperature in summer is usually between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius.

The best thing for today's visitors to Šolta is that the spirits of the past can still be felt by stopping in one of its bays or small seaside towns or visiting the inhabited places of the island's interior.

The island of Šolta has eight settlements. To give you an idea of the distance, all eight villages lie along the island’s only road, which goes from east to west and is only 14 km long.
If you decide to venture into the interior of the island, you will enter a different space-time dimension, because time has simply stood still in the interior of Šolta.

You will come across some well-kept vineyards, as well as olive groves, fig and carob trees, fragrant lavender, rosemary in full bloom, secluded bays, rocky and pebble beaches, and of course crystal clear water.
On the island you will find some supermarkets, bakeries, confectionery, pharmacy, hairdresser, souvenir shops, newspaper stand, butcher and fish market, as well as several restaurants.

If you want to withdraw some money from an ATM, you can find them in Grohote, as well as in Rogač, Stomorska and Maslinica. The post office is located in the island’s capital – Grohote.
