About Šolta
Hiking trails
There are a number of paths you can take to explore the intact beauty of the island of Šolta.
You can start your hike in the coastal villages of Maslinica, Stomorska, Nečujam or Rogač or you can hike towards the sea. You start the hike from the villages on the hills, in the countryside, for example Grohote, Gornje Selo or Srednje Selo and cross the southern part of the island, through bays and olive groves towards the crystal clear sea.
To know exactly which trails to explore, pick up a map of the island (with trails marked) at a local tourist information center.
Snorkeling & Diving
Diving in Šolta Island is a very special experience as there are some ancient Roman remains hidden underwater that can only be seen through scuba diving. There are a few diving centers on the island. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced diver, you can book your dive with them and be in safe hands throughout this remarkable experience.
Some of them even offer night dives. The south side of Šolta has rich underwater life with corals scattered in numerous caves. There are a few dive sites near the island, some offering dive near sunken ships and other remains. Snorkeling does not require as much preparation, physical condition, or theoretical/practical knowledge as scuba diving. Snorkel gear can be bought on the beach or in the shops/stalls.

Water sports
Besides scuba diving and snorkeling, you can also try stand up paddle surfing, kayaking or canoeing. Kayaking is a very popular activity on the island of Šolta and an ideal way to explore the hidden coves in the area.
Equipment
All necessary equipment can be rented on the beach. However, note that it is not offered on every beach, but on the larger ones in Maslinica and Nečujam.
You can even rent a small boat and go around the island, visiting all the hidden coves and exploring its beautiful beaches, but make sure you have your valid boating license with you.
